Bee Names: F-J

Hugh Bee

Hugh has a terrific sense of humor. When he first came to the greenhouse one of the other bees jokingly asked him: "You BEE Hugh Bee?" Hugh thought this was killingly funny and has been telling the joke to all his friends ever since.

IBEW Bee

IBEW tried to organize the worker bees in his hive last month to strike for shorter hours, more sugar water, two, 15-minute breaks daily, and democratic elections for Queen Bee, rather than royal succession. The strike didn't come off, but at last report the matter had gone to arbitration.

Gee Bee

Gee Bee gets teased a lot by the other bees because of the sound of  her name. When she flies out each morning the other bees will start buzzing"Gee Bee, Gee Bee, Gee Bee. Wee Bee enchanted by your name." Fortunately, she has a thick skin and likes her name. She usually ignores them, but sometimes she sniffs that they're "Juvenile larvae."

Fancy Nancy Bee

This bee is literally a high flier. Her co-workers say that unlike most bees who make short hops from plant to plant, she likes to soar to the greenhouse ceiling each time before dropping down to pollinate a plant.

Freddy Bee

Freddy is a very playful bee. His favorite game is to hide under a leaf, buzzing loudly until a co-worker finds him. He then repeats the process on another plant. His human co-worker will usually quickly tire of this game. Freddy then moves to another co-worker and starts the game again.

Honey Bee II

Honey is a very family-oriented bee. She knows all 95 names of her sisters and brothers and always remembers their birthdays. If bees sent birthday cards, Honey would spend a fortune on stamps.

Jacobs Bee

Jacobs  just arrived in the greenhouse last week with a new hive of bees from Holland. He immediately adapted to the conditions under the theory that if you've been in one greenhouse, you've been in them all. He's a very flexible bee.

Honeymoon Bee

Honeymoon is usually one of the first out of the hive in the morning, but then she usually parks herself on a flower and watches where the other bees are going before deciding her course of action. Sometimes she follows the pack and sometimes she strikes off on her own.

Jaycee Bee

Jaycee is an Olympic sprinter among bees. Where the other bees tend to pace themselves, flying gently from plant to plant, in a slow and regular pattern, Jaycee races from flower to flower at top speed. This bee goes to more flowers in a given amount of time than any other bee, but this bee also tires out faster and can be often found late in the afternoon resting on the arm of a human co-worker.

Hope Bee

Hope is a very broad bee, even for a bumblebee. Her wings are unusually large too. This sometimes makes it hard for her to get all the way in to flowers, but her co-workers say she gets her share of pollinating done anyway.
