This is one of the newer plants in our newest greenhouse(It's in the third row left, five from the back as you enter.). The farm's staff says it has more than met its quota of tomatoes for June and July and they have great hopes for August.
DC, as the bees call him, was one of the first plants sent up in the old greenhouse this spring. His place next to the door and the fact that he was an early planting gives him a certain precedence, at least in the bees eyes. They always pollinate his flowers early in the morning.
Nance as she prefers to be called is a prolific producer of tomatoes. Located third on the right in the second row of the new greenhouse she has been favored by the constant attention of the bees and just the right sunlight, nutrient mix and humidity. A real success story.
Gail sits by the door in our newest greenhouse. Although not one to put on airs, the bees in the greenhouse say she has the nicest flowers of any plant in her row and produces the best formed tomatoes.
Although a very young tomato plant, at eight feet Chole Rose is already the tallest plant in the greenhouse next to the farm stand. She is producing wonderful tomatoes and is not at all self concious about her height. Her ambition is to set a record for this season for both height and for growing the most tomatoes and she is well on her way to reaching both goals.
This is a robust tomato plant - in our large greenhouse at Cape Abilities Farm. It is already yielding some terrific tomatoes - and the bees are buzzing around it. We expect that this vine may grow to be over 25 feet long.
Tanya is a tomato plant with lots of personality. One of the new plants - Tanya is expected to yield some terrific tomatoes. Tanya is located in our large greenhouse, just across from our new greenhouse. To watch a video about the new greenhouse at Cape Abilities Farm in Dennis, click here.
Although things are winding down at the farm - a new tomato plant has just been named to honor Lyn and Mike Hoskinson. The tomato plant, a Clarence Cluster variety, will be one of the first plants in our new greenhouse - now under construction at Cape Abilities Farm in Dennis.
Although this tomato plant was only recently named Vivienne, it has been one of the best producing tomato plants in all of 2008. Vivienne is a Trust Beefsteak tomato plant, which produced some of the award winning tomatoes this summer. Cape Abilities Farm tomatoes were honored with 8th and 9th place at the Massachusetts Agricultural Departments Annual Tomato Contest. Thank you for your help, Vivienne.
