Jane Thompson comes to Cape Abilities with an impressive background in international human resources. Jane has lived and traveled all over the world and will be happy to share her experiences and adventures with visitors to Cape Abilities Consignment & Thrift
 
Jane's early work experience highlights and extensive background as both buyer and merchandiser. These talents will be put to good use in her new role at Cape Abilities!

Jane's hobbies include cooking, decorating and gardening. She and her husband reside in Sandwich, the perfect spot for a world traveler to grow deep roots.
 

Ruth Eames, Consignment & Thrift Associate

Ruth Eames fell in love with the Cape during her first visit to a wonderful North Truro cottage in the dunes. Shortly after that visit, Ruth chose to make Cape Cod her permanent home.
 
Ruth has a background in art and interior design and is a self taught pastry chef. She considers herself fortunate to have been mentored by some of the most respected chefs on the Cape. She has had the privilege of working in some wonderful Cape restaurants and her amazing  desserts have been featured in High Brewster and the Regatta of Cotuit. In addition to creating beautiful desserts, Ruth also works as a private caterer.
 
Ruth lives in Barnstable Village with her husband Jon and their adored cat, Clara.

Maggi Tyson, Consignment & Thrift Manager

Maggi Tyson brings her talents as both teacher and entrepreneur to her new role at Cape Abilities.
 
A long time resident of Barnstable Village, she is known locally as the person who renovated Ashley Manor and established it as a premier Northside Bed and Breakfast.

Maggi's face is very familiar to mid-Cape ice cream lovers as she was owner and operator of the Ice Cream Smuggler in Dennis for eighteen years.  
 
Maggi brings her boundless energy and enthusiasm to Cape Abilities new venture in Barnstable Village, the place she is very happy to call "home."

Princess Mia and ew Bee

This is definitely an Odd Bee Couple. Princess Mia is a very grand bee who reminds everyone that she is directly related to the Queen. ew, on the other hand, is a true proletarian bee, who insists on his working class status by listing his initials in lower case, like e.e.cummings, whose radical poetry he admires.

Although dedicated to pollinating the tomatoes and other plants in the greenhouses, the bees feel that they should also have some say in Cape Abilities Farm's marketing and design plans. After all, they say, bees are well known for their good taste. The matter is still being debated with the farm staff.

Fourteen bees at Cape Abilities Farm have attained the rank of Champion Pollinator so far this season. This is more than have ever received this honor so early in the season. It bodes well for a good year.

The last week in July is traditionally Watersports Week among the bees at Cape Abilities Farm. The hives compete in swimming, sailing and water polo. Leftover irrigation water provides an excellent setting for the competition.

Adopt A Bee New Names: A-E

The bees have been screening the entire Spiderman films series this summer. This gave some of them  the idea of writing a Bee-focused movie script to compete with the spiders. They recently sent an agent a script for a horror movie "Death Bee Not Proud," about a 400-foot long killer bee who, after destroying several East Coast cities, is finally brought down by his hubris, i.e. his overweening pride.

The agent told them the idea was too Greek.
