Paige the Bee

Bee2 We have had some chilly weather here on Cape Cod lately, and that is just fine with one of our new bumblebees, Paige. She loves the crisp weather and has even been known to ski.

Meredith and Olivia, Two Busy Bees

Bee1 Meredith and Olivia have been working pollinating tomato plants at Cape Abilities Farm. They were two of the first bumblebees to be adopted. Meredith is a wonderful bee, who enjoys swimming. Olivia is another great bee - and she is always on the move.

Curious George the Bee

Curious_george_2 Bee4Curious George the bumblebee has joined the hive at Cape Abilities Farm. Curious George has been a very, very busy bee, buzzing around the greenhouse and getting into a little bit of trouble.

Do you think Curious George, the bumblebee looks like  the real Curious George?

Sheena the Bee

Bee5 A new bumblebee has arrived at Cape Abilities Farm on Cape Cod - Sheena. Sheena is a very, very friendly bee - who has an unusual feature - fur. Sheena also likes to eat yogurt - and wag her bee tail. Welcome to the farm Sheena.

Avery the Bee

Adopt a Bee

Bee9_3 For $10, you can adopt a bee and help create jobs for people with disabilities at Cape Abilities Farm. You can name your bee, and visit your bee online. You will also receive an Official Bee Adoption Certificate. Each bumble bee that is adopted works in our greenhouses pollinating tomatoes and other plants. Each plant that grows at Cape Abilities Farm creates jobs for Cape Codders with disabilities. To sign up, visit our Adopt a Bee membership form.

Construction is over and the growing season is underway in the spacious new greenhouse at Cape Abilities Farm. The new greenhouse is wheelchair accessible.

The Naked Oyster Bistro & Raw Bar in Hyannis hosted an auction last year that raised over $60,000 to build the greenhouse. More than 700 tomato plants, eggplants and peppers have been planted in the greenhouse.
