Trish Goulding - Beach Bucket Team

Trish, an employment specialist and case manager, also helps deliver beach buckets. She was born in Norwood, Massachusetts, but came to the Cape in 1962 and joined Cape Abilities in 1994. "I feel fortunate...," she says. "It's just a really nice, relaxing place to work and I have a great boss." Trish's favorite Cape place is Truro. "I love down Cape. The lower you go, the more quiet it is," she says. In her free time, Trish likes to hike in the National Seashore Park.

Diane Letizia - Beach Bucket Team

Diane works bagging headphones at Cape Abilities. She joined in 1986. Asked what she likes best about the work, she says she likes "to get paid for it."

She likes the Beach Bucket program because it provides jobs for Cape Codders with disabilities. "It's all about the jobs," she says. Her favorite place on the Cape is the Hyannisport Golf Club. Her favorite activity on the Cape: golf. Her hobbies:..... well, golf, but she also likes knitting, reading and following politics. Big Papi 2 Man Bee

Something of a loner, Big Papi follows a different drummer in the greenhouse. He will go to flowers that others think have been tapped out of pollen, and come out with with a big batch. A bee who thinks for himself.

Two Bees or Knot Two Bees?

TBoKTB?, as they like to be called, bring a  surreal element to the greenhouse.  They never do anything the ordinary way, often backing into flowers (and their fellow bees). Their co-workers are perplexed, but fond of them nonetheless.

Billy Joe Jack Bee

Billy Joe Jack Bee is a very well-behaved bee. He always lines up to wait his turn at flowers and lets others go ahead when there is a crowd waiting to enter the hive. He arrived at the farm from Brooklyn, New York and is enjoying his time in the country atmosphere.

South Bee

South and her twin, North, were identical twins when they morphed from larvae into worker bees, but since then their looks and life stories have diverged. North, who appears to be into the bee equivalent of body-building, has bulked up and tends to hang out with the larger, so-called Muscle Bees. South remains thin and slight with an almost musical buzz.

Lucy Bee

Lucy is something of a snoop. If a human co-worker is wearing a hat, Lucy will crawl under the hat to see what's there. If another worker is making up a new barrel of hydroponic mix for the plants, Lucy will perch on the side of the barrel to check out the ingredients. She inquires into everything that goes on in the greenhouse and every person who enters.

Annie Bee

Annie loves the heat of summer and the high humidity of the greenhouse in the afternoons. While other bees scramble to find some shade, Annie  likes to work in the full sun. If bees could tan, Annie would have a great tan.
